Valentine's Day Fun! 2/12/10 We made our loved ones a LOVEly gift for Valentine's Day! We measured our armspan with adding machine tape, then used a ruler to find out how many feet and inches long our armspan was. Some even found out how many centimeters their armspan was! We used multiplication to get our answers and then decorated our adding machine paper with cut outs of our hands, the words "I love you this much!" along with our measurements, and of course, hearts! We also exchanged Valentines in class and enjoyed some yummy treats, and then visited our Reading Buddies and had a great time sharing handmade Valentines with our favorite "Luv Bugs!"
Solar System Model 2/8/10 We went outside and modeled the solar system by pretending to be the inner and outer planets. Each student representing a planet had to revolve, or orbit, around the Sun, while rotating on his/her "axis." We noticed that the planets all revolve and rotate at their own speed and have their own path that they travel so they don't run into each other! Afterwards, we drew pictures of our favorite planets with the chalk on the pavement!
